Boston Breast Diagnostic Center supports research that moves forward the fields of breast imaging and breast cancer care.  You can find the research that we are performing and supporting below.

BBDC Research

CMIST

CMIST stands for the Contrast-Enhanced Mammography Trial.  It is a multicenter trial.  It is supported by American College of Radiology, the Breast Cancer Research Fund, and GE Healthcare.

The CMIST study seeks to determine if contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) provides more accurate cancer detection compared to digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), or 3D mammography, in women with dense breasts.

We are recruiting women to have both a CEM and a 3D mammogram so that we can compare which exam is better at finding breast cancer.

​​

To participate you must be:

  • 45-74 years old

  • Presenting for screening mammogram

  • Have dense breasts

​

You cannot participate if you:

  • Have breast cancer

  • Have breast symptoms

  • Have breast implants

  • Are pregnant

  • Have had breast ultrasound in the last 11 months

  • Have had MRI or CEM in the last 36 months
